Competitor Advice: Fuel Spilling onto Circuit

Investigations into abnormal damage to the new track surface over the past 3 months indicate that the root-cause persistent occurrences of fuel exiting filler-cap area during the early stages of individual events.

This happened on the old surface resulting in 50m strip in T1 having to be excavated and re-layed.

Now it is happening again at T1 and T7. The mechanism involves petrol penetrating track surface and weakening the bitumen binder. This is manifesting itself at corner apexes due to an unhappy combination of weakened asphalt and high shear-forces causing premature damage. The evidence is strongly suggestive of left-hand side fuel filler spillage.

Going forward, please be warned that any cars noted to be leaking fuel by Race Officials will be Black Flagged.
