Q. You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
A. The most fluorescent orange you can think of, that is the colour I would be. Why you ask? Well for the obvious reason of being a red head but also because everyone loves a bit of ‘bright in your face’ colour on a rainy day!
Q. What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
A. Galaxy drive ins count as TV, right? We went and watched the new Lion King and loaded the car up with way too many pillows, blankets and snacks! Growing up in the prime time for Disney, owning every movie on VHS and watching them over and over again, much to my parents delight as I recited each movie. It was great to watch the movie again with tweaks made to it, so it fits in a little more with today’s young generation.
Q. What’s the most interesting thing about you that most people wouldn’t know?
A. I can sing and not shatter windows or sound like a bunch of dyeing cats. I majored in Music and Drama during school and had ambitions of heading to WAAPA to pursue my love of musical theater and end up on the big stages. Acting was a breeze but my fear of singing in front of audiences ended up holding me back. I still enjoy singing at home and sometimes head to a few open mic nights around my local area to put on a performance.
Q. What do you work toward in your free time?
A. I think it is obvious from my picture that I own and ride horses. The brown horse I am sitting on I have owned for almost 10 years after working very hard to buy her. We have achieved many things together in our 10 years, but we will both never stop learning and growing and working towards our next goals. The little patchy one is only young, and I am enjoying showing her the world and working towards her ridden career being my next trusty steed. Aside from the horses, my sister and I have started our own little small business doing resin artwork, so we are loving spending quality time together growing our business together.
Q. You’ve been given an elephant. You can’t give it away or sell it. What would you do with it?
A. Well, I would have a hard time explaining this one to my partner as to why I needed another 4-legged child. In my defense though, my partner makes all my horses look small so maybe an elephant would be the perfect fit to get him to come out for a ride with me? Of course, the elephant would stay and join the rest of our funny farm/family. As long as it doesn’t squish any of the dogs or ruin my fences, Nelly will be welcomed with open arms.
Q. If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
A. I was born on the 11th of the 11th and have spent every birthday doing a 1-minute silence at 11am. I would love to be able to witness the joy and the reactions in that very moment back in 1918 when everyone was told that the ceasefire had been called for, and the first world war was finally over. After 4 years of blood shed and families being torn apart fighting for their country, the relief and joy etc would be something to be amazing to witness.
Q. What phobias do you have?
A. Needles…. Nasty pointy yucky things they are. I have never had a bad experience; I don’t actually think they hurt that much either I just can’t stand them! I have tattoos and they weren’t a problem at all yet come at me with a needle for a blood test, vaccination etc, good luck catching me! I’m that bad that I can’t watch them on TV in movies etc, I have to turn away and who ever is watching the movie with me has to let me know when it is safe to watch again. They are just YUCK!
Q. If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A. I would be an eagle. I love the idea of being able to fly and have that freedom to just take off and explore. I’d have to be an eagle though so I wasn’t some little bird that would get eaten easily or a gallah that would fly in front of a moving vehicle!
Q. Before working at WASCC, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
A. I wouldn’t call it unusual, but I found it interesting at 13 years of age. I got a small part time job working for a family friends chilli business. I got to go to markets and local agricultural shows and work the little stall. I sure did love watching the big tough guys come over and leave coughing and crying after trying the hottest chilli sauces.
Q. What’s your favourite ’90s jam?
A. Spice Girls! Anything Spice Girls was what I was forever squawking down the microphone on my little portable cassette player. I was so heart broken when the microphone stopped working on it and would ask my dad to try and fix it, but he couldn’t. Years later I find out that mum and dad had taken the batteries out of it after being so sick of listening to me!
