18 March 2020
Dear members, officials and our broader motorsport community,
The Committee of the WA Sporting Car Club has today taken the decision to suspend all Club organised events and activities until 19 June 2020 to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 throughout our community.
The health and wellbeing of our participants, officials and all staff is our highest priority. We are also aware of our broader community responsibility at this time and are adhering by Federal and State Government advice regarding community health during this pandemic.
Our team will focus on working collaboratively with our stakeholders and third-party hirers through this unique and difficult period. This includes strategies and resources to maintain a connection to motorsport by our participants and supporters.
This suspension will provide the opportunity for us to track and review the impact of this virus and collectively with our stakeholders, plan for the delivery of the remainder of the 2020 championship.
It is important to note that the season is not cancelled. We will continue to review the situation and provide regular updates.
The situation keeps evolving and changing rapidly. The Club will monitor the situation daily and receive regular advice and updates from bodies including Motorsport Australia, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the WA Department of Health to inform our decisions.
This will clearly have a financial impact on our Club and management is formulating strategies to minimise the impact and ensure that the Club remains strong and viable once this crisis is resolved.
