The WA Sporting Car Club’s 2020 Championship season comes to a spectacular finale this Saturday 14th November with the November Nightmasters event wrapping up the last of the categories championships for the year with others already having been decided at the October race meet.
On track action starts at 1pm with Formula Ford, F1000, Radicals, Formula Racing, Holden HQ, Excel Cup, Sports Sedans / Sports Cars and Street Cars all competing for round wins and to finalise their championships.
Across the championships there are some close battles including for 2nd and 3rd place in the Hyundai Excel series. Current 3rd place holder Cameron Atkins has got a new car ready to go after an unfortunate incident at the October meet saw his car retired.
In the HQ Holdens, Michael Howlett currently has a 26 point lead over Rory Sharp meaning anything could happen there. Behind them a close battle for third with Mick Woodbridge leading Dennis Russell by 17 points.
The exciting F1000 category will take to the track earlier in the event with privateer Stewart Burns currently leading Arise Racing’s Adam Lisle by just 2 points. Behind them Joseph Bergic and Jordan Oon are separated by just 2 points for third spot.
Over in the Saloon Cars Pro-AM class, the field will have a huge task to catch Marc Watkins in 1st and even Michael Holdcroft in 2nd, however 16 year old Chase Hoy currently has a task to defend 3rd place from Carl Fanderlinden with only 9 points separating the two.
Up in the Saloon Cars Pro class, Grant Johnson has a comfortable lead while Brock Boley and Matt Martin will be scrapping for second, with Rick Gill nipping at Brock’s heels for 3rd.
WA Sporting Car Club’s chair of the events committee, Peter Dyball is excited for the upcoming race meet saying: “We’re really looking forward to some great racing this Saturday at our Nightmasters event. It’s the last WASCC race event for 2020, as well as the thrill of night racing, we’re going to have State and Club championships decided, it should be epic.
2020 has certainly been a challenging year for motorsport in Australia and in WA. Thanks to all our competitors for their understanding and flexibility and to our officials for their fantastic efforts. While 2021 is likely to throw plenty of curve balls at us, the WASCC team and Committee will be doing our best to conduct great events and get as many people as possible participating in motorsport at Wanneroo Raceway.”
Gates open at 12pm, Spectators welcome to the park and view areas around the circuit for just $5 per car. Full access to the pit paddock to check out the cars and drivers is also on offer.
